In the 1940s and 1950s, Atlanta native Elbridge S. Boyd played a pivotal role in shaping the early development of Siesta Key. His vision and leadership were instrumental in several landmark projects, including Hidden Harbor, the Sanderling Club, and the founding of the Cocoanut Bayou Association (CBA).
Established in 1952, the CBA encompasses 54 eligible homes located along Cedar Park Circle, Higel Avenue, Midnight Pass Road, Mangrove Point Road, Mangrove Place, and Little Pond Lane.
Boyd’s developments were guided by a deep respect for both ecology and aesthetics, with a strong emphasis on preserving the area’s natural beauty. At the heart of South Cocoanut Bayou lies a large mangrove island—an enduring testament to his vision—which continues to thrive today as a vibrant and protected natural habitat.
Cocoanut Bayou Association, Inc.
The Cocoanut Bayou Association, Inc. (CBA) is a Florida non-profit corporation originally founded in 1952 and formally amended in 1990 to establish a voluntary, non-profit property owners’ association. The Association is comprised of property owners within the Cocoanut Bayou area, as defined in its governing documents.
Members work together to preserve the neighborhood’s unique charm and natural beauty by upholding shared guidelines and responsibilities. Through these collective efforts, the Association helps maintain the peaceful, welcoming character that has long defined Cocoanut Bayou.
